Covenant Update

Dear Covenant Family:

Yesterday we had a great day at Covenant, with 30 attendees!  Don gave an excellent sermon on where we should look for help.  He used Psalm 121 as his scripture for this message.

Psalm 121 – I will raise my eyes to the mountains; from where will my help come?  My help comes from the Lord,
Who made heaven and earth.  He will not allow your foot to slip; He who watches over you will not slumber.
Behold, He who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.  The Lord is your protector; the Lord is your shade on your right hand.  The sun will not beat down on you by day, nor the moon by night.  The Lord will protect you from all evil; he will keep your soul.  The Lord will guard your going out and your coming in from this time and forever.

David is asking in verse one “from where will my help come?”  He is asking aswe might when we have fears or concerns.  He says “I will raise my eyes to the mountains”, meaning he is looking to the foothills of the mountains where all the criminals and bad folks would gather to cause trouble to others coming by.  So he expresses his concern similar to our thoughts and feelings when trouble comes our way.  The rest of the scripture answers his question, as it answers our question as well.  If God made heaven and earth, he can certainly look out for us.  God is always there for us, never sleeping as we might, and ready to guard us if we allow him.

The bulletin for our service is attached.  I think we have a record amount of collections for Pine Grove this month.  Folks also brought in more toiletries for our high school children in need, so thank you to everyone who contributed to these worthy ministries!

The news on our Prayer List is much improved this week.  Edwina had successful surgery and actually called Rose on Friday to talk.  She is not out of the woods but is doing better and starting to eat some food, and hopes to soon move to long term care from the hospital.  Keep praying that she continues to do well.  Paul McArthur is also doing better as he recovers from his gall bladder surgery.  He and Victoria hope they can return to Covenant soon.  Carl Romey’s nephew, Duane, is also doing better after contracting COVID.  He is still hospitalized but keep praying that he will continue to improve.  The 19-month old boy who contracted COVID  that we were asked to pray for is doing much better and his local grandparents are still asymptomatic so all is good with them.  They thanked us for our prayers.  Finally, Virginia Phillips is still struggling with her broken arm that took awhile to get treated.  She now has a sling to wear but finds that very uncomfortable so please continue to pray for Virginia.  I think that covers our list.

Finally, we decided with Don to have Communion next Sunday.  We have only had Communion once since COVID began, so we are hoping we can now get back on a regular timing for Communion.  So be sure to be there next week if you would like to receive Communion.

If anyone would like to meet with Don, please feel free to call him at 352-262-5349, and he would be glad to come to you and meet.

Wishing you all a very blessed week!
