Covenant Update

Dear Covenant Family:

We had a good service yesterday at Covenant, with 27 folks present.  Richard Parker led our service and gave a most interesting sermon titled Newness of Life.  He spoke of the difficult family times he experienced growing up and how it led him away from God.  Yet, in spite of these difficult times, he found God at age 17 and committed his life to God ever since.  His scripture was 2 Corinthians 5:17 – Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.  He spoke about how his life changed after accepting God as his Savior from how much he could obtain and attain to how much he could do for God.  It was a very personal and heartwarming message.

Attached is the bulletin from that service.  Tina has included two funny stories under God Bless the Children, be sure to read them.

We received an update on Edwina.  The doctors have diagnosed her condition, and surgery would be required to remove part of her colon that is severely damaged.  Edwina and her family are leaning toward having the surgery.  If that decision holds, the surgery would likely be this Tuesday.  Prayer warriors from her Covenant family are needed for Edwina, her family, and her medical team!!  Also note that North Florida has gone to a more restrictive visitation policy due to an increase in COVID cases, so it is best not to visit this week.  Cards should be sent to Edwina’s home at 1919 NW 4th Avenue, Gainesville FL 32603, and her family will see that she gets them.

Don Mauldin will begin his tenure as our Pastor beginning next Sunday, so we hope you all will turn out to meet and welcome Don, Diane, and Missy to our Covenant family.

This month’s ministry is Bread of the Mighty Food Bank.  If you would like to make a donation, please put it in the offering plate and write “Mission” on the note.

Have a blessed week!

Ron
