Dear Covenant Church Family:
Today was a great Father’s Day at Covenant Church. We had 35 folks in attendance today. Please remember that next Sunday, June 28, we will celebrate our upcoming July 4 anniversary immediately after church. Covenant Church will provide ribs and chicken and also the drinks, and members are asked to bring their favorite salad, vegetable, or dessert to share with others. Please dress in your July 4th finest, and bring friends and family with you.
Then on July 12, after our regular church service, we will hold a brief memorial service at 11:30 AM recognizing Madge and Francis Bush. We will remember them, share in fellowship, and give thanks for the many blessings they brought to our church family and community.
Covenant then shared our prayer requests and praises. Pastor Don asked for prayers for the husband and family of a close friend of Missy since high school whose husband suffered brain injury after a fall, and is unlikely to survive. Becky Alexander asked for prayers for Craig who is with his mother who is in a hospital in VA, as she is not doing well.
Pastor Don also had a praise for his and Diane’s 55th wedding anniversary a few days ago, saying it was a great day. Helen Ann Noegel also returned to church today and had a praise for Carolyn Vlacos, who she said is doing very well at her daughter’s home in Augusta, GA.
Pastor Don focused his sermon today on fathers. He based his sermon on:
1 Timothy 4:12 – Let no one look down on your youthfulness, but rather in speech, conduct, love, faith, and purity, show yourself an example of those who believe.
To accomplish these things, Pastor Don said you need to be a teacher of your children, a provider for your family, and a protector of your family. If you would like to listen to this sermon, all recorded sermons can be accessed at https://gainesvillecovenantchurch.org/ and then choose Sermons on the home page, and then choose today’s message.
I wish all of you a most blessed week, and hope to see you all in church next Sunday.
Ron
