Dear Covenant Church Family:
Today was another great day at Covenant, as we had 31 folks in attendance today. We had one praise report and a number of prayer requests. Tina Pinkoson first gave a praise for yesterday’s rain, as it was so helpful for all our garden and planting needs. We then followed with a number of prayer requests. Tina and Pastor Don were both suffering today with back ailments, so we asked for prayers for each of them. Michelle Miller then had a prayer request for a friend of hers who gave birth to twin boys this week, but she was still hospitalized with complications from their births. Becky Alexander asked for prayers for Larry Noegel for bone spurs and back pain that he is experiencing. Carol Parker said that Carolyn Vlacos called her yesterday and is still in rehab in the hospital, but she is hoping to go home soon. Shaw and Polly Grigsby’s friend was back with them in church today, and said she had gotten two good doctor reports this past week, and was so grateful for Shaw and Polly’s care the past few weeks.
Pastor Don’s sermon today was on communicating more clearly and his scripture was:
Isaiah 43:15-20 – I am the Lord, your Holy One, the Creator of Israel, your King.” 16 This is what the Lord says, He who makes a way through the sea and a path through the mighty waters, 17 Who brings out the chariot and the horse, the army and the mighty man (They will lie down together and not rise again; they have been extinguished, and have gone out like a wick): 18 “Do not call to mind the former things, or consider things of the past. 19 Behold, I am going to do something new, now it will spring up; will you not be aware of it? I will even make a roadway in the wilderness, rivers in the desert. 20 The animals of the field will glorify Me, the jackals and the ostriches, because I have given waters in the wilderness.
Pastor Don said we should not live in the past, we should move on and keep moving (verse 18). He also told us that Isaiah was writing to people in all stages of life, that we all have frustrations, but God can guide us to solutions (verse 19). He concluded that we should not live out our life in the wilderness, He still has plans for us wherever we are in life, and we should enjoy who we are with God (verse 20). I wish all of you a most blessed week.
