Covenant Update

Dear Covenant Family:

Today was another great day at Covenant, with 31 folks in attendance.  Remember that we will have Communion in church next Sunday, March 29, on Palm Sunday.  We had a number of prayer requests and praise reports given today.  Maurita McKee had a praise for Vernon who came through his surgery this week successfully; it was great having them both in church today.  Tina Pinkoson had a praise for her new computer, for which she will be able to keep all her existing music, as well as all her weekly messages.  Frank Dolwick had a praise for Francis Bush who will be remembered next week for his military contribution.

Shaw Grigsby asked for prayers for three of his friends, two who have heart issues, and one who is close to death.  Larry Noegel asked for prayers for a local friend, Glenn McMillen, who is now in hospice.  Diane Mauldin asked for prayers for a family member in Alabama who had a heart attack last week.  Carol Parker had a prayer request for Denise Morgan, who has been attending our church for at least the past 6 months, who has been in the hospital and received a broncoscopy procedure to detect a possible heart issue; please keep Denise in your prayers.  Carol also asked for prayers for her husband Sam who is scheduled for cataract surgery in April, but she is concerned he is currently blind in one eye, and she is concerned for the possibility of him becoming completely blind.  Patsy Sutton had a prayer request for her sister, who is now in hospice.  Becky Alexander asked for prayers as she will be going to the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville this coming week for additional testing of her cancer issues.  Matthew (a visitor in church today) asked for prayers for he and his roommate who have argued a good bit lately; he asked God to continue working on both of their hearts.

Pastor Don gave a sermon which he titled Living Without the Might!  His scripture was:

Ecclesiastes 11:4-6 – One who watches the wind will not sow and one who looks at the clouds will not harvest. Just as you do not know the path of the wind, and how bones are formed in the womb of the pregnant woman, so you do not know the activity of God who makes everything.  Sow your seed in the morning and do not be idle in the evening, for you do not know whether one or the other will succeed, or whether both of them alike will be good.

Don gave a number of examples of how people are hesitant to pursue things because you might be turned down.  His point was what you think might happen may actually never happen.   The reality is you have to do something to find success.  You should pay close attention to what God tells you to do!   If you would like to listen to this sermon, all recorded sermons can be accessed at https://gainesvillecovenantchurch.org/ and then choose Sermons on the home page, and then choose today’s message.

I wish all of you a most blessed week!
