We had a great service at Covenant today with 31 folks in attendance. Attached is today’s bulletin with news for you. Please note that next Saturday you need to set your clocks ahead one hour so you won’t be late or miss church next Sunday.
We had a number of Prayer Requests today. We asked for continued prayers for Mack and Carolyn Vlacos as Mack is still hospitalized with a lung infection. Patsy Sutton asked for prayers for her daughter Karen who will have surgery this Thursday. Michelle Miller asked for prayers for her father for rotator cuff surgery that he will have this coming Thursday and for her daughter Lindsay dealing with some health issues post-pregnancy. We also had two Praise Reports made today. Rose Morgan praised a major overhaul done to the church piano as it was having a number of issues from its use over many years. The overhaul was similar to putting a new engine in an old car, it should give the piano many additional years of life. Also, Josh who is a Santa Fe college basketball player who attends our church has won an award as the outstanding FCA athlete at the college representing a Godly life style, he will be recognized at this week’s annual FCA banquet.
Pastor Don’s sermon was about God being the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. Also, that the choices we make in our life matter and we need to make smart choices. His scripture for today’s sermon was:
Revelations 3:14-19 – I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot; I wish that you were cold or hot. 16 So because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will vomit you out of My mouth. 17 Because you say, “I am rich, and have become wealthy, and have no need of anything,” and you do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked, 18 I advise you to buy from Me gold refined by fire so that you may become rich, and white garments so that you may clothe yourself and the shame of your nakedness will not be revealed; and eye salve to apply to your eyes so that you may see. 19 Those whom I love, I rebuke and discipline; therefore be zealous and repent. Don’s sermon was excellent as always, and I strongly suggest you listen to it if you could not be at church today. All sermons can be accessed at https://gainesvillecovenantchurch.org/ and then choose Sermons on the home page, and then choose the sermon you want to hear.
Finally, Easter is fast approaching. This year, as in years past, we ask interested families to bring one or more Easter lilies to church on Palm Sunday, which is three weeks from today on March 24. The church looks beautiful with Easter lilies framing the front area of our church. Everyone is asked to please take their lilies with them then after the Easter service on Sunday March 31. Also, note that we will serve Communion on Easter Sunday as it is a fifth Sunday in March.
May each of you have a most blessed time in the remaining Lent period and in preparation for a peaceful Easter celebration.
