Dear Covenant Family:
Today we had a great service at Covenant, with 44 folks in attendance. Attached is today’s church bulletin with some additional information that you might find useful. There will be a YAH meeting at church this Tuesday at 10:30 AM, and attendees are invited to go to lunch together after the meeting.
We had a number of prayer requests today. Mack Vlacos asked for continued prayers for his brother Bobby. Larry Noegel asked for prayers for a good friend who is hospitalized with complications following cancer treatment. Victoria McArthur asked for prayers for a friend with breast cancer who now also has major knee problems and cannot get a doctor’s appointment until August. Edwina Hope’s daughter Donna asked for prayers for Edwina’s grandson Luke, who is serving in the Peach Corps in Zambia (Edwina regularly asked for prayers for his safety there); Luke has recently become very ill and is having a problem getting a correct diagnosis and getting the needed medical care. Carolyn Vlacos asked for prayers for her granddaughter Alexandra whose husband is now in Hospice care. Also, two people had unspoken prayer requests. Please keep all these folks in your prayers. Helen Ann Noegel had a praise that her son is now safely home from working in Wales for the past three months.
Pastor Don’s sermon today was titled It’s Too Hard and was about how humans tend to give up on things when they become difficult and forget that nothing is too hard for God. Don used three different scripture verses for his message.
Genesis 18:13-14 – But the Lord said to Abraham, “Why did Sarah laugh, saying, ‘Shall I actually give birth to a child, when I am so old?’ 14 Is anything too difficult for the Lord? At the appointed time I will return to you, at this time next year, and Sarah will have a son.”
Jeremiah 32:17 – Oh, Lord God! Behold, You Yourself have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and by Your outstretched arm! Nothing is too difficult for You.
Luke 18:27 – But He said, “The things that are impossible with people are possible with God.”
If you weren’t able to be at church today, I would highly recommend listening to Pastor Don’s sermon which can be accessed at https://gainesvillecovenantchurch.org/ and then choose Sermons on the home page, and then choose the sermon you want to hear. You will also be able to hear the Sound of Hope anthem for today.
Then tonight about 75 members and their family and friends returned to Covenant at 5 PM for a Covenant Valentine’s Day dinner. We had a prime rib dinner with mashed potatoes and green beans for vegetables, with numerous desserts provided by our excellent Covenant bakers. We would like to thank Pastor Don for him getting Sonny’s BBque to prepare the meal for us, due to his FCA involvement with Sonny’s. Thanks to our Covenant family for supporting this event and help with the setup before and tear down after the event. We are truly a blessed church! Under separate cover, I will try to send you three pictures from the event.
I wish each of you a wonderful Valentine’s Day and the most blessed week for you and your loved ones.
Ron
