Covenant Update

Dear Covenant Family:

Today we had 30 folks in attendance at our Covenant church service, in spite of the rain.  Attached is today’s church bulletin so you can see additional information from today’s service.

We had a number of prayer requests raised today.  Victoria McArthur asked for prayers for her son and also an unspoken request; Tina Pinkoson asked for prayers for her nephew JD who had a very difficult week; Sam Parker asked for prayers for his twin brother; a visitor at Covenant today, Imran, asked for prayers for his college aged son who just got out of the hospital; Missy Mauldin again asked for prayers for her friend who last week we learned was recovering well from her previous illness who has now regressed and may need to be hospitalized again; and we asked for continued prayers for Mack and Carolyn Vlacos.

We also had a number of praise reports as well with Michelle Miller praising the successful surgery for her daughter-in-law this week and the successful birth of her new grandson; Larry Noegel praised his son being selected to serve as an umpire in this year’s Little League World Series held in August; and Nancy Parke raising the praise that wherever you see God, join Him there.

Pastor Don’s sermon used the following scripture:
Philippians 1:21 – For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain, and

Philippians 2:1-8 – Therefore if there is any encouragement in Christ, if any consolation of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and compassion, make my joy complete by being of the same mind, maintaining the same love, united in spirit, intent on one purpose. Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility consider one another as more important than yourselves; do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others. Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, who, as He already existed in the form of God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but emptied Himself by taking the form of a bond-servant and being born in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death: death on a cross.

Pastor Don said that the title of his sermon could be The Most Asked Question Never Spoken, which he stated is “Is it worth it”?  This is what his sermon addressed.  If you weren’t able to be at church today, I would highly recommend listening to his sermon which can be accessed at https://gainesvillecovenantchurch.org/ and then choose Sermons on the home page, and then choose the sermon you want to hear.  You will also be able to hear the Sound of Hope anthem for today.

I wish each of you the most blessed week for you and your loved ones.

Ron
