Dear Covenant Family:
Today was another great day at Covenant Church, and we had 34 people in attendance. Attached is today’s bulletin for your information, note that this month our ministry is the Gainesville Community Ministry.
We had quite a few prayer requests and praises today. A praise report was shared by both Patsy Sutton and Becky Alexander, thanking Covenant Church for all the prayers that were given last week for both of their cancer situations. Brady Mauldin (Pastor Don and Diane’s grandson) gave a praise for his parents who were at Disney World celebrating their wedding anniversary. Larry Noegel also gave a praise request for our special prayer service last Sunday.
Helen Ann Noegel gave a prayer request for Carolyn and Mack Vlacos, who were doing better this week, but still need our continuing prayers. Sam Parker gave a prayer request for his sister in the loss of her son. Michelle gave a prayer request for both her mother and aunt who were both ill this past week. Missy Mauldin gave a prayer request asking for traveling mercies for students and parents from her school who are visiting New York City this weekend, who will return home tomorrow. Victoria McArthur asked for prayers for all the people killed in the two plane crashes this week in Washington DC and Philadelphia. Craig Alexander asked for continued prayers for his mother and for his sister who his mother is now staying with in Orlando. There were also 3 unspoken prayer requests made today.
Pastor Don gave a sermon today that we all need to work together for good, we cannot and should not ignore people who may seem to have nothing to do with our welfare. He notes that this is what Paul was sharing with the church in Corinth in these verses.
1 Corinthians 12:7-13,26 – But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. 8 For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit; 9 to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit, 10 and to another the effecting of miracles, and to another prophecy, and to another the distinguishing of spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, and to another the interpretation of tongues. 11 But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually just as He wills. 12 For just as the body is one and yet has many parts, and all the parts of the body, though they are many, are one body, so also is Christ. 13 For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free, and we were all made to drink of one Spirit. …. 26 And if one part of the body suffers, all the parts suffer with it; if a part is honored, all the parts rejoice with it.
