Dear Covenant Family:
I wanted to provide a few updates to you today. Cindy and I are leaving town right after church tomorrow and, unfortunately, I cannot send group emails to our large church mail list anymore when I am out of town staying in a hotel or almost anywhere. Wifi providers now generally limit group emails to protect themselves from illegal or harmful posts.
So I have attached here the latest Costas newsletter from Brazil that I received back in October so you can keep up with this global ministry that Covenant supports. You might remember that the Costas family are friends of Carl and Shirley Romey who visited Covenant while Carl was Pastor and we decided to add them as a new ministry to support at that time.
I also wanted to include the King (Alabaster) newsletter that I received also in October but, for some reason, it would not let me save it so I will try to simply forward it to you in a separate email. We were introduced to this Ghana based ministry 7-8 years ago (maybe 10 ?) by Paul and Victoria McArthur, and have supported it ever since. King is the leader of this ministry and has spoken at Covenant a number of times, including just last spring. King was born in Ghana and grew up there, came to the US as a teenager, went to college here and was a successful businessman for a number of years, then was led to return to Ghana about 20 years ago with his wife and two small children to begin this ministry which has been quite successful in this primarily Muslim population.
I hope you enjoy reading both these newsletters and appreciate the Godly contributions made by both these global ministries.
I also attach here the Covenant Church calendar for January and February. The Trustees and Pastor Don met this week to finalize our church calendar for 2023, so can now share it with you for the first two months of this year. Please note on the calendar that Covenant is adding a Valentine’s dinner to be held Sunday February 12 at 5 PM. Joe will make a lasagna feast for us so be sure to plan to come and bring your favorite Valentines with you! More details will follow as we get closer to Valentine’s Day!
Regarding our prayer list, please keep in your prayers Patsy Sutton, Mack Vlacos, Carl Romey, Darlene Sanchez, Cindy’s and my friend who was recently diagnosed with lung cancer, and others who have recently experienced deaths or other health issues in their families. Also note that Marilyn Bishop has now been treated for her broken vertebrae and is at Palm Gardens in rehab.
I think that covers everything for now. I wish you a blessed two weeks while we are away.
Ron
