Covenant Update

Dear Covenant Family:

We had a great service at Covenant today with 30 folks in attendance.  Attached is the church bulletin for today’s service for your information.

We had a few updates today on recent prayer requests.  Patsy and Bobby Sutton were not in church today because they traveled to Valdosta for the funeral of Patsy’s 33-year-old nephew who was raised up last week as he was very ill from COVID, and then died this week;  Buddy Wise is still in the hospital and may remain there a few more days as he may still face more surgery this week; Mack Vlacos is still in the hospital dealing with breathing issues.  Please keep all these individuals in your prayers.  Edwina also renewed a praise report for her daughter and son-in-law who are in Zambia visiting their son working for the Peace Corps and having a great visit, and she also requested traveling mercies for them traveling home next weekend.

Missy Mauldin raised a new prayer request for a recent graduate of Newberry High School who committed suicide over the holidays, her prayer request was for the student’s family and his friends at school who may only learn this news tomorrow when students return to school from the holidays.  Carol Parker also asked for prayers for a friend who is scheduled to have a C-section tomorrow for the birth of her 3rd child, Carol pointed out that this woman lost her first child shortly after birth in the first C-section.  Please keep all these requests on your prayer list.

Pastor Don was out of town this weekend celebrating Diane’s birthday.  So Don asked me to lead today’s service, and I was glad to do so.  The title of my sermon today was Finding Contentment and the scripture used was

Philippians 4:11,19 – Not that I speak from need, for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am………And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.

The purpose of the message was to help both Christians and folks who have not yet found Christ to find contentment and meaning in their lives.  If you would like to listen to this sermon, it can be accessed at https://gainesvillecovenantchurch.org/ and then choose Sermons on the home page, and then choose the sermon you want to hear.  You will also be able to hear the Sound of Hope anthem for today which was sung by the Covenant Choir, led by Tina.  Pastor Don will be back for next week’s service.

I wish you all a very blessed week.

Ron
