I have spoken about the importance of sharing love in our lives many times in my weekly messages. It is easy to love our family, our chosen family, and other friends and co-workers. However, each of us should be seeking to bring others to Jesus Christ, who may never have heard of Him, or whom may not have had the opportunity yet to feel His Love. To that end, I offer another message from Sarah Young in her Jesus Calling devotional, written for June 9.
Her message states Seek to live in My Love, which covers a multitude of sins: both yours and others. Wear My Love like a cloak of Light, covering you from head to toe. Have no fear, for perfect Love decimates fear. Look at other people through lenses of Love; see them from My perspective. This is how you walk in the Light, and it pleases Me.
I want My Body of believers to be radiant with the Light of My Presence. How I grieve when pockets of darkness increasingly dim the Love-Light. Return to Me, your First Love! Gaze at Me in the splendor of holiness, and My Love will once again envelop you in Light.
In my recent TGIF message on June 5, I used two quotes that Tina presented in our church bulletin on light and love as requirements to replace hate with love in our world. I highlight both these words above in Sarah’s message so we can see their importance. Sarah also tells us in this message Have no fear, for perfect Love decimates fear. The way to overcome fear is to have God’s True Love in our hearts, and our fears will then disappear.
1 John 4:18 – There is no fear in love, but perfect love drives out fear, because fear involves punishment, and the one who fears is not perfected in love.
We need to live our lives as joyful, loving, compassionate Christian believers. We need to be forgiving to each other, just as Jesus has forgiven all our sins.
Ephesians 4:32 – Be kind to one another, compassionate, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you.
I apologize if it seems I am overdoing the focus on love, joy, peace, and hope in recent messages, but our world seems to be swirling around us in many ways today that are counter to our Christian beliefs. There is also good news that there are competing Christian revival efforts to bring many new people in today’s world to accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. The result is that many new people are finding Jesus as their Savior and coming to church again, with the larger number especially in new men attending church. The Christian community needs to all do our part to ensure the continued growth of our Christian culture.
We all need to be sure we are reaching out to others in our daily walk, just to share a smile, open a door, say thank you, or pray for someone in need. We all need to be sure we are showing God’s love in our hearts and through the light we shine for Him.
