TGIF
This week has been the easiest and most relaxed week in Cindy’s and my life in a long time. Yet, it has also been one of the hardest and most demanding in a long time as well. How can that be, you might ask?
Cindy and I are back up in DC this week and next week, even though we were just here a few weeks ago. The reason we are back in DC is that our son and his family have bought a house and we agreed to come up and be available to help them as needed with the move. So on one hand, we don’t have to think very much about what to do this week, we simply do whatever our son Stevie and daughter-in-law Cristina request of us! We also have the extra bonus of spending a lot of time with our granddaughters Harper and Penelope, and that has been just delightful and never gets old.
On the other hand, Stevie and Cristina have a lot of requests because moving an entire family and household is a lot of work, in addition to the babysitting! So as relaxed as the week is from a mental standpoint, it is quite demanding from a physical standpoint. We are pretty busy all day every day, and we are doing our best to respond properly whenever we are assigned a task.
So life is pretty good this week as long as we follow the directions given to us and don’t stray from the path Stevie and Cristina clearly give us to follow. This reminds me of another person who has plans for us, plans for our well-being.
Jeremiah 29:11 – For I know the plans that I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for prosperity and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.
If we follow His plans, we can also relax and know that we are in good hands. Although we have a lot to do for Stevie and Cristina, they are not pushing us past our limits. It is quite hot here in DC, very much like Florida heat, so they are careful to only make requests of us that we can handle. That is just like Jesus’ plan for us as well.
1 Corinthians 10:13 – No temptation has overtaken you except something common to mankind; and God is faithful, so He will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it.
This week Cindy and I are trusting in Stevie and Cristina to keep us on the right path, which is the path that helps them the most. We can’t understand every decision they are making, but only they know what is best this week to manage their two daughters and to move their entire home to a new location. In our larger lives, we need to have the same trust in our Lord and Savior, so that we can be relaxed knowing that everything is alright in our life no matter what we might be experiencing at the moment. It is also OK if we don’t understand the reason for some of His decisions.
Proverbs 3:5-6 – Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.
Cindy and I are both confident and relaxed knowing that Stevie and Cristina are looking out for our best interests right now and they won’t give us more to do than we can handle this week and next. We have the same assurance that our Savior has the same plan for us now and always, so we know we can rest in His peace.
Isaiah 26:3 – The steadfast of mind You will keep in perfect peace, because he trusts in You.
John 14:27 – Peace I leave you, My peace I give you; not as the world gives, do I give to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled, nor fearful.
I hope your week is as relaxed mentally as ours is because of your trust in God, and that you are not as busy as we are!! See you all next Sunday again!Ron
