I decided that this week’s TGIF message should be from my Jesus Calling daily devotional book authored by Sarah Young for two reasons. One reason is that the chosen message is quite beautiful and meaningful (appearing on March 8). The second reason is that the music from the chosen scripture was placed on my heart about 5-6 years ago when two of my granddaughters sang it in church as part of their first youth choir. I hope you enjoy Sarah’s message and the music as much as I have over the years!
Sarah states Save your best striving for seeking my face. I am constantly communicating with you. To find Me and hear My voice, you must seek Me above all else. Anything that you desire more than me becomes an idol. When you are determined to get your own way, you blot Me out of your consciousness. Instead of single-mindedly pursuing some goal, talk with Me about it. Let the Light of My Presence shine on this pursuit, so that you can see it from My perspective. If the goal fits into My plans for you, I will help you reach it. If it is contrary to My will for you, I will change the desire of your heart. Seek Me first and foremost; then the rest of your life will fall into place, piece by piece.
Here is the scripture that serves as Sarah’s key to this message:
Matthew 6:33 – But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be provided to you.
Matthew 7:7 – Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.
Then you can hear a musical version of this scripture being sung at:
This author adds a few additional sentences about “bread” in her version, but the scripture put to music is beautiful. I still get goosebumps whenever I remember my two very young granddaughters singing this song in church a number of times!
I pray that we all will open our hearts to hearing God speaking to us. We need to evaluate our desires from God’s perspective and, over time, we will learn if He blesses our wish, or maybe our thought just vanishes from our thought process. If so, that plan was never meant to be.
Also, there is nothing like hearing Christian music from the mouths of young, innocent children!!!
