I told you in last week’s message how inspired I was by the multiple major and positive instances where God was featured all across our country in the preceding weeks involving Damar Hamlin, the Super Bowl Christian ads, and the Asbury revival. That led to last week’s message, and it also led me to follow up on the Asbury College revival this week since it had been announced that the event was having to be ended because of the overwhelming national response and its overwhelming impact on this small town and college in the middle of Kentucky. President Kevin Brown of Asbury College was hoping to relocate it somewhere else in Asbury, but that never materialized due to the limited resources available in Asbury for a continued service. He made this statement as the event closed at Asbury – Whether you call this a revival or a renewal or an outpouring or an awakening, what we have experienced on this campus these last few weeks is unlike anything I have ever experienced in my entire life.
The result was the continuing Asbury event was rescheduled for Rupp Arena in nearby Lexington KY (home of the Kentucky basketball team) for 3 days later. Here is a description of the event that occurred at Rupp as described at:
I hope you have read the attached article describing what continued at Rupp following the Asbury event ending. I cannot begin to do justice to the description of the happenings that occurred at the “Rupp Revival”. It sounds like it was also an amazing event and God’s presence was continued to be felt in many ways. Noone really knows for sure what is happening here but it all is positive for God and His Word. God’s Spirit has infiltrated many people’s hearts and lives through these happenings and His influence is spreading to many people, both those who know God and to many new people searching for meaning in their lives right now in this terribly fallen world. We all need to keep praying for God to stay active in all believers’ hearts and lives and to keep using us as needed to spread His Word and to make a positive impact on the many people who are now searching for some real meaning in their empty life.
Jeremiah 29:11-12 – For I know the plans that I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for prosperity and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. 12 Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you.
The one thing I do believe and conclude is that Christians have been active the past 2 years in praying to God to help us in this dire time in our world. I hope that what we are seeing is God responding to the pleas from His children for His presence to be made known to us and to all in the world, but only God knows His plan and timetable. God has his own sense of timing. He has perfect timing – He is never early nor ever late. God is never in a hurry, but he is always on time.
2 Peter 3:8 – But do not let this one fact escape your notice, beloved, that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years like one day.
God is giving us all an opportunity here. As believers, we need to spread His Word to all – our lost family and friends, and to all the people we “coincidentally” meet on the streets each day. We need to share His message through His Word and give people a source in which they can find comfort now and always, whether we are in the midst of a revival or in a time of quiet reflection where God is at work but we are not seeing it as we have so vividly experienced His presence these past few weeks.
Proverbs 3:5 – Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding.
Don’t worry about the actions of others, as we cannot control them at all. They may seem to win in the short term but they will have to face God when their judgment time comes. God knows our needs and our wishes, and we need to be patient as we wait on Him.
Psalm 37:7 – Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for Him; do not get upset because of one who is successful in his way, because of the person who carries out wicked schemes.
Stay on your path, continue to share your love story about God with others who are now opening up to finding true meaning for their life. Don’t be bashful to approach them, as we need to appreciate this opportunity through the door that has just been opened for us by Him!
John 14:6 – Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father except through Me.
And remember to pray, pray, pray for God’s continued presence and guidance!!!!!!!! The power of prayer is undeniable!!!
Matthew 21:22 – And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith.
Amen!
