Today’s message comes from Edwina Hope.

For the Wednesday message I would like to share an article by Rabbi Marc Gilman that was in the Gainesville Sun   He explains how he teaches children about praying.  He explains that even there are millions of prayers to God everyday there are only four kinds of prayers, thanks, gimme, oops and wow.

THANKS PRAYERS
Thanks prayers help us to remember that everything in life is a gift from God. We thank God for the good things we already have.  We have a mind to study, we live in a place where we are free, we are loved and alive.  Every good gift and every perfect gift is from God. That is why we say thank you prayers.  If the only prayers you ever say are thanks prayers it will be enough for God.

GIMMIE  PRAYERS
You ask God to give you something you need but do not have now.  There are bad and good gimmie  prayers. Bad is when you ask God for something you don’t  have but really don’t need.  Most bad prayers  are for stuff
Good prayers are asking God for something for someone else, sick to get better and ask to protect and keep them safe.   A good gimmie prayer about you is when you pray for God to help you not to be afraid of sickness, old age or the future. Knowing God loves you and is always with you will help you from being scared. God will help you not to be afraid every time you pray a good gimmie prayer

OOPS PRAYERS
Oops prayers are when you say to God I just messed up.  You are sorry for something you did or did not do.  No one is perfect or go through life without making mistakes.  Oops prayers ask God to forgive you.   The only cure  for messing up is to say oops.

WOW PRAYERS

We tell God something is really awesome.   Wow is the times we see, hear, taste, touch or learn something wonderful.  Wow prayers come from the beauty in nature, rainbows, sunsets, mountains, animals and birds.   Seeing these things make us say wow.  Wow comes from how big it is and how small we are   God’s creation is full of WOW

Prayer
Gracious Heavenly Father we thank you that  we can come to you in prayer for all our needs .   You are our protector and helper.  We pray for guidance for those in charge of our country.  Help people to turn to you during this time of uncertainty and fear of the unknown. Bless all the members of Covenant and we pray we will be able to worship you together with our church family.  In the precious name of Jesus, Amen
