Covenant Hurricane Relief Update

Dear Covenant Family:

The Trustees have approved a plan for spending the $2,000 that we raised in October from our ministry on Hurricane Relief.  We will also continue to accept new donations if people want to contribute which I will explain more below.  We will divide our hurricane relief contributions in two specific locations – Cedar Key and Steinhatchee.  We will distribute the funds ourselves because we have reliable resources in both areas who we can trust to work with us.

We have learned that the school system in Cedar Key is in immediate need of clothing for school age children, some of whom lost everything in Hurricane Helene.  To help the families of the 12 elementary school children for whom we were given this information, Covenant will provide those parents a $50 gift card to Walmart to purchase some new clothing for their children.  We are also asking our members and friends to consider giving any clothing (new or reasonably used) that they don’t need anymore.  There are certainly some high school students who can wear adult sizes so we would ask you to consider donating any clothing that you can share with other folks in desperate need right now.

We will also work with Kyle Wilson (Tina’s son) who lives and works in Steinhatchee to provide them $1,400 to fill a local pantry area with the many needs that community also needs as they begin the rebuilding process.

Any additional contributions to this ongoing hurricane relief effort will be used to support these two areas – Cedar Key and Steinhatchee!  So please ask your friends and family if they would like to contribute to our hurricane relief locally!

Ron
