Dear Covenant Church Family:
Yesterday was a great day at Covenant, with 33 church members and friends in attendance. We have an upcoming social event planned for Sunday, February 15, at 5 PM at Covenant Church. We will celebrate Valentine’s Day that Sunday evening with a fish fry, appropriate side dishes, drinks, and desserts. All the food will be provided by Covenant Church, so all we need is you to make our celebration complete! We are hoping many of you will be able to make it to this special event.
We had a number of prayer requests in church yesterday. Shaw Grigsby asked for prayers for the family of a friend of Shaw’s who recently died. Rose Morgan had an unspoken request. Bobby Sutton asked for prayers for his wife Patsy who is currently suffering with shingles on her face. Craig Alexander asked for prayers for Becky as she continues her tumor suppressant treatment for her cancer. Becky asked for prayers for her mother who is struggling with some hearing issues right now.
We also had a number of praise reports. Shaw Grigsby said he had a praise for driving home successfully from Knoxville TN on Saturday through the difficult snowstorm issues. Pastor Don had a praise for Shaw and Polly Grigsby who came to their aid and were able to fix a problem with their stove. Bobby Sutton had a praise that his hearing has been restored in one ear after struggling with issues for a long time.
Pastor Don gave a sermon which he titled Attitude. His scripture was:
1 Corinthians 5:14-18 – We urge you, brothers and sisters, admonish the unruly, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with everyone. 15 See that no one repays another with evil for evil, but always seek what is good for one another and for all people. 16 Rejoice always, 17 pray without ceasing, 18 in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus.
Don told us that it is our choice to how we start and live each day. We should always live with a happy heart. God wants us to enjoy life. We are to rejoice in what we have rather than being jealous of what we do not have. Finally, he shared that “God is good all the time”! If you would like to listen to this sermon, all recorded sermons can be accessed at https://gainesvillecovenantchurch.org/ and then choose Sermons on the home page, and then choose today’s message.
I wish you all a most blessed week! Ron
